Methow Valley Biathlon

Biathlon is the unique winter sport that combines two challenging disciplines – cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship – into one exciting event. The Methow Valley has one of the most successful and inclusive biathlon programs in the United States, with the goal to promote the sport of biathlon to all ages and abilities. Rifle safety, sportsmanship, discipline, and fun are hallmarks of the program.

Make it stand out.

  • Youth Team

Our youth program is open to any Nordic team member nine years or older.

  • Masters' Practice

We meet regularly to practice and help each other with technique and facilitate range setup and cleanup. To take part in these practices you must (a) be a member of Methow Valley Nordic and Methow Valley Biathlon (b) be a member of US Biathlon for insurance purposes, and (c) have completed USBA’s Basic Rifle Safety Course.

  • Try Biathlon

Twice each winter we host a trial day where skiers interested in sampling biathlon can swing by the range and learn the basics! MVB shares details on equipment, history, safety, and training before participants have the opportunity to try shooting and skiing a short loop. Try Biathlon is open to skiers age 9 and older, no previous biathlon experience is required. At the Mazama range.

  • Races

Our signature Chasing the Sun race is held each year and we encourage biathletes of all ages to participate! Many MV biathletes travel to other races, particularly the Washington Biathlon Association series.
